Sciatica
The longest nerve in the body is the sciatic nerve. It runs from the lower back down the leg into the toes. When irritated or inflamed you will hear people refer to the term sciatica. This means that the sciatic nerve has become inflamed and irritated causing excruciating pain in the back of their leg. Some people note problems in the buttock, some the knee area, others near the foot and some just feel it throughout the entire leg and foot. This is all referred to as sciatica. Also, people may notice a deep ache of the leg and cramping like sensations of the muscles, pins and needles, burning sensations, numbness and tenderness.
Chiropractic has witnessed great benefit for those suffering from sciatica or sciatic type complaints. Most sciatic people receive tremendous relief from chiropractic superior to traction and pain injections, often saving them from having spinal surgery.
A prolapsed disc may cause sciatica but there are other conditions, such as misalignments of the spine, that can cause irritation of the sciatic nerve. The pain in the leg is caused by compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve, which is the largest and longest nerve of the body. This nerve is made up by a number of nerves branching off of each side of the spinal cord and runs down the back of each leg.
we are trained to assess the patient to ascertain what is the cause of sciatica. Sometimes the doctor of chiropractic may need to work in conjunction with other health care professionals such as Neurologists or Orthopedists to enable the patient to receive the best management for their condition, although this is seldom required.
we specific adjustive techniques to remove the interference from spinal, muscular and nerve structures. These adjustments are effective at reducing nerve irritation and its associated pain. Sciatica and many other health problems can be traced to the spine and respond dramatically to the restoration of normal spinal function through chiropractic care.

Lower Back Pain
The U.S. government found in 1994 that chiropractic is the most effective methods of care for acute adult low back pain. They also revealed that extended bed rest was harmful and that muscle relaxers and surgery can be unnecessary and even dangerous. In Canada, a 1993 study was funded by the government of Ontario, concluding that chiropractic care for those with low back pain was far superior to medicine in terms of safety, science and cost-effectiveness. And above all the finding revealed superiority in the area of patient satisfaction.
The facts also prove that chiropractic relieves chronic, severe pain in half the time it takes medicine. Numerous studies prove chiropractic is both effective and cost-effective for low back, neck and mid back complaints within the first month of symptoms.
Why is chiropractic the overwhelming favorite? Scientific studies have shown numerous times that painkillers, muscle relaxers, braces, physical therapy and surgery are not capable of correcting vertebral subluxations. However, chiropractic is.
Back pain is one of the most common ailments treated by us. It can come about for many reasons including accidents, stress, sporting injuries, illness, poor posture, lack of exercise and everyday wear and tear. This can be a debilitating disease or just a little niggle - but any sign of pain means that there is something wrong with your health.
When your framework is not functioning correctly it can lead to symptoms anywhere in the body involving pain, numbness, pins and needles or some other malfunction.
Your framework is made up of the bones and joints of the skeleton and the muscles, ligaments and tendons that hold it all together.
If a joint and the surrounding tissues are not aligned properly or are not moving as they should this can cause interference to the nerves that pass through these structures. Once interference is caused to nerves, the information that travels through the nerves is changed causing some form of disorder.
Faulty body mechanics, especially where a nerve leaves the spinal column, can disrupt nerve pathways. The nerve pathways travel to and from organs and tissues making vital connections between the brain and the body. Therefore if your nerve pathways are interrupted there can be an effect on your body and general health. Areas of your body that are fed by interrupted nerve pathways do not function correctly, making them susceptible to pain, illness, injury and breakdown. We aim to restore normal function to the spine allowing the vertebral column normal motion and posture. This improved function is brought about by specific chiropractic adjustments. The simplicity and success of this approach has been documented in numerous research projects
As we take a holistic approach to your health and well being he will consider your symptoms in the context of a full medical history and lifestyle circumstances.
